Virtual Employee Onboarding Experience| Publicis Sapient Gurgaon Feedback

Ever since Covid-19 hit the world, I have been wondering about how new joiner experiences in the professional world has changed. Onboarding in new organizations is normally a 2-3 days’ process, where new employees get acquainted with the organization’s policies and work environment. Recently, I joined Publicis Sapient Gurgaon and had a virtual onboarding process which delighted me on multiple levels.

Virtual onboarding of employees is a tedious task as HRs must utilize their team and technology intelligently, to welcome new joiners. Some organizations have two days’ process where they talk only about the policies and workflow. After a few hours, your excitement level may drop down as you memorize. Some organizations have senior people who chime-in for their knowledge sharing.

At the end of the day, the employee experience matters the most, irrespective of any location. So, I am writing a genuine feedback at Gurgaon location for you folks. Hope it helps you in preparing for your dream job’s first day!

Starts Onboarding two days early: Publicis Sapient has new joiners every week and hence their process is very well-defined and thoughtful to ease newcomers. This organization has dedicated teams and staff for onboarding, pre-hire process which takes care of your needs at the initial phase beautifully even before the joining date. These people are available online 24x7, while your Hiring Manager will also cross-check you for any issues.
Diverse and large batch in onboarding session: Although the onboarding process at Publicis Sapient was for three long days, it was not tiring. As we got ample breaks and had fun moments to leave behind all tension. I got to know that it was a batch of 70+ newcomers who were coming with 0 to 12+ years of experience pan India. Such a diverse group of new joiners was fun and inclusive.
Virtual Hangout Groups within Zoom: During sessions we were given some team-building and mind-boggling fun activities, which recreated the physical onboarding experience. Through Zoom Rooms, we were able to talk and know fellow newcomers very well.
HR/Finance/Tech support: All platforms and Point of Contact (POCs) information is provided in detail during onboarding. Publicis Sapient has segregated resources and teams as per each office location. In case you forget any detail or platform’s function, then you can seek facilitators through Microsoft Teams or email anytime. Publicis Sapient has “People Portal” help articles for easy and quick reference and links. If all fails, you can raise a helpdesk ticket and the corresponding staff will resolve your issues.
Interactive sessions, knowledgeable speakers: All facilitators and speakers were knowledgeable, who took our queries and resolved them in detail. Overall, I enjoyed Q&A more than the actual sessions as it gave me an in-depth understanding.
Buddy and Mentors for 360-degree support: You are assigned buddy and mentors from respective projects and domain knowledge, who guide you in the organization and in career graph as well.
Diversity and Inclusion at its core: Women and LGBTQ+ are welcomed at Publicis Sapient with open arms. We even received a session where our unconscious biases were revealed by the facilitator. This feedback for Publicis Sapient is an initiative from my end where I have tried to be 100% inclusive consciously.
